The Icesave session in the Hague: Difference of opinion

Nothing visible came out of the Icesave session in the Hague on Thursday and Friday of last week. Steingrimur J. Sigfusson, Iceland´s Minister of Finance, said the meeting was useful. Bjarni Benediktsson, chairman of the opposition Conservative Party, said the results were nil. (Icelandic media).

Icesave: Negotiations resumed

The negotiating teams of Iceland, Britain and the Netherlands met in the Netherlands yesterday and the meeting continues today (Friday). This is the first negotiating session since July of this year. (Morgunbladid).

Iceland: The new government is in place

Changes in the government were finally announced at noon today. As expected, four of the present ministers are going out, two new ministers are coming in and, to enable the reduced numbr of ministers to cope with the situation, there is some re-arrangement between individual ministries.

According to media reports in Reykjavik last night and this morning, a major government reshuffle is taking place. It is expected that the number of ministers will be reduced by two: four of the present ministers are likely to be going out and two new ministers are coming in. A
